How do I know if I chose the right agency?

Choosing the right agency is a critical element of making sure your journey is successful and satisfying, and most importantly, safe. Having the right professionals to support you and make sure that all of the background details you couldn’t anticipate and probably wouldn’t even think of are taken care of behind the scenes so that issues can be prevented and resolved before ever even becoming issues.

How diligently they screen you and the time they take to get to know you and prepare you before they even entertain thinking about the prospect of matching is a good indicator that they are professional and experienced. It’s also a good indicator of how they most likely do the same with the parents they serve.

If the agency is rushing to match before making sure you are qualified and prepared, it’s a bad sign that they are concerned more about telling everyone what they want to hear than they are about doing the right thing. They should also be transparent with you about their process and open to answering all of your questions.

You should never feel pressured by an agency into making a decision you aren’t comfortable with. There are many agencies that have popped up recently who don’t seem to mind overlooking best practices and protocols that have been in place and established by the ASRM for years if it means they can get more people to work with them.

You want to avoid working with any agency who isn’t transparent about their ownership and doesn’t have an upstanding reputation in the small world of assisted reproduction. If something goes wrong, you need to feel secure in the experience and guidance of the agency who is paid by intended parents to guide everyone through the journey.

A solid agency will make sure the escrow and finances are setup appropriately, your medical expenses are taken care of in a timely manner, and they’ll help you navigate any difficult conversations or misunderstandings that might arise. A fly by night agency may have a few positive reviews and success stories, but they can also just pack up and disappear if the going gets tough.

And if you’re not sure how to find out all the things you need to know about an agency, connect with us and we’ll help you out. It’s literally what we do!
